MEM Industrial–Tecno Mueble Internacional to Proceed with In-Person Format

GMF news - World Trade Fair Guide. Turin, 16 august 2021 – The MEM Industrial–Tecno Mueble Internacional (MEM-TMI) Organizing Committee, comprised of Hannover Fairs México and the Jalisco Furniture Manufacturers’ Association (Afamjal), together with local authorities and Expo Guadalajara, confirmed that the 2021 edition of the event, which will take place on August 18-21 at Expo Guadalajara, will proceed as planned under an in-person format, in compliance with a stringent safety and hygiene protocol applicable to all visitors and participants.

According to MEM-TMI Director Azul Ogazón, “the Jalisco State Government has supported the economic activities held at Expo Guadalajara, the condition being that events like ours implement a series of strict measures to safeguard the health and wellbeing of all those attending. Over the last year, the MEM-TMI Organizing Committee and Expo Guadalajara have been working together on health measures and protocols in keeping with the highest international standards, and new-generation technologies that will enable us to protect the health of our visitors and exhibitors. Hannover Fairs México, Afamjal and Expo Guadalajara would like to take this opportunity to reiterate our commitment to contributing to the economic reactivation of the sector and the creation of business opportunities for the woodworking and furniture industry this August 18-21.”

Meanwhile, Afamjal President Teresa Calderón Durán said that the furniture sector is essential to the country in general and Jalisco in particular, where it employs some 25,000 people and makes a considerable contribution to the local economy. “Hence the need to complement the furniture production chain with world-class machinery and inputs, without forgetting the forestry sector, which also makes a substantial contribution to the Mexican economy.”

“New times,” added Calderón Durán, “demand new technologies and digitalization to serve a market that is increasingly hungry for innovative products that can be delivered almost immediately. This is why the furniture industry needs suppliers that can keep up with progress in the sector.”
