E-world Congress Focuses on Smart Cities and Climate Solutions. Messe Essen Becomes the Think Tank of the European Energy Sector

The leading fair in the European energy industry, E-world energy & water at Messe Essen, will offer a detailed conference programme with the E-world Congress. From February 4 to 6, 2019, ten panels with high-ranking casts will entice the trade visitors

GMF news - World Trade Fair Guide. Turin, December 19, 2018 – "As the leading fair in the European energy industry, it will be our task to work on the urgent questions in the sector. The E-world Congress will bring everybody around one table - from the distribution network operator to the municipal utility company. In this respect, attention will focus on the main subjects of the fair: smart cities and climate solutions," according to Stefanie Hamm, Managing Director of E-world energy & water. The specialist conferences at the E-world Congress will be staged, amongst others, together with the University of Duisburg-Essen, Süddeutscher Verlag and the German Broadband Association (BREKO).

Monday, February 4, 2019: Perspectives for the Energy World of Tomorrow

Are the requirements on network expansion sidetracking the energy transition? How is the digital world changing the energy industry? These and other strategic questions will be discussed at the "Energy Industry Leadership Meeting" with a high-ranking cast on February 4, 2019, one day before the start of the fair. The participants will include Thomas Bareiß, Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, Dr. Jörg Rothermel, Managing Director of the Energy-Intensive Industries in Germany, and Hildegard Müller, Chief Operating Officer Grid & Infrastructure of innogy SE. The event will be compered by Benedikt Müller from the editorial office for economics at Süddeutsche Zeitung.

Tuesday, February 5, 2019: Digitalisation, Decarbonisation and Decentralisation

The second day of the congress on February 5 will examine the greatest tasks in the energy sector. For example, the North Rhine-Westphalia Energy Agency will stage the "23rd Specialist Congress for Future Energies" within the framework of E-world energy & water and will show the effects of the megatrend of digitalisation on the energy sector in an absolutely practical way. At the conference entitled "5-D-imensions of the Energy Industry" (digitalisation, decarbonisation, decentralisation, demography and diversification), the Rödl & Partner auditing and consultancy company will highlight ways of accomplishing the balancing act between political guidelines and limited resources.

Wednesday, February 6, 2019: New Business Models

Electromobility, renewable energies and broadband - On the third day of the congress (on February 6), new business models will be on the agenda in a total of five conferences in the German and English languages. The conference entitled "Electromobility in Practice" will focus on the user relevance with a view to the challenges of the smart cities. The subjects will include "New Business Fields for Mobility Service Providers" and "Challenges for Companies, Network Operators and Municipalities". The congress partner will be the Becker Büttner Held law firm.

How can energy suppliers operate sustainable business models when generating, marketing and selling renewable energies? The conference at 10 a.m. will get to the bottom of these questions and the subjects under discussion will include the refinement of the support framework in the Renewable Energy Sources Act in 2021 and marketing after the end of the support.

The House of Energy Markets & Finance and the University of Duisburg-Essen will guide the visitors through a two-part English-language event bearing the title: "Energy Market Developments and Implications for Portfolio Management". Participants in the conference will have the chance to discuss the effects of Brexit on the energy industry with Professor Richard Green from the Imperial College London.

What role are energy supply companies and municipal utility companies playing in fibre optic expansion? The North Rhine-Westphalia Fibre Optic Forum will get to the bottom of this question. In 2019, E-world will play host to the forum for the first time. The German Broadband Association (BREKO), the micus strategy consultancy and the con|energy consultancy company will bring top speakers from the entire value added chain in the broadband market around one table and will discuss the correct positioning for municipal utility companies with the participants.
