AVANTEX Paris 11-14/02/2018, Le Bourget, Paris. An overview of the innovations combining technology and fashion, from existing solutions to potential ones

GMF news - World Trade Fair Guide. Turin, January 8, 2018 – AVANTEX PARIS, the show that offers technical and technological services and processes for all branches of fashion, will take place between 11 and 14 February 2018 in Paris, Le Bourget.

“Avantex Paris is a trade show that brings together all those involved in fashion and in innovation for fashion and is built as much on presenting existing products as on introducing future ones. This is why we are developing special relationships with start-up firms, which we will now be promoting by way of the Avantex Fashion Pitch at each show. We will also be welcoming the winners from various FashionTech Week events, since Messe Frankfurt France intends to support these ‘seedlings’ but also to confront them with the realities of the industry to help them move forward.
This February show also marks the return of Avanprint in its new format, i.e. as a separate segment at Avantex Paris in its own right. It is true that digital printing is a technology that is very much in demand and is particularly well suited to fashion (according to the Smithers Pira 2016 report, the sector will post double-digit growth between now and 2021). Not including it in the categories at Avantex no longer made sense”
, observes Michael Scherpe, President of Messe Frankfurt France.

On the occasion of the sixth show, digital printing firms will be attending the rendezvous for fashion and high-tech, thus inaugurating the new AVANPRINT segment, along with participation by the textile printers MS Printing.

This is a logical extension of the AVANTEX PARIS area with more than 25% of floorspace dedicated to innovative fabrics and functionalities. Innovative textiles can be found alongside ingenious finished products, ready-to-wear collections, research projects by students, etc. This February’s show will prove to be very diverse as regards development pathways for the future. Come and discover:
- the biotech company Torq Labs, the winner of the grand prize in the 2017 Avantex Fashion Pitch competition. They make ‘smart’ tights that monitor the health of athlete’s knees;
- the best of FashionTech Week and high-tech fashion solutions:
• the water-repellent fabric from the start-up INDUO®, prize winner at the Fashion Pitch Night,
• the designs from Armine Ohanyan Paris, a collection Made in France that takes its inspiration from the seasons and uses new fused thermoplastic materials and 3D printing, winner at the FashionTech Expo;
- the Korean KITECH institute (Korea Institute of Industrial Technology) will be presenting its textile solutions and will be giving its views on the circular economy;
- innovations in textile technology from students at the University of Albstadt-Sigmaringen (Germany);

The trends forum remains an unmissable event that rounds off the programme and gives visitors an instant understanding of this constantly evolving field. The lectures at the AVANTEX PARIS agora will mark each day thanks to the support of partnerships forged by Messe Frankfurt France with French and international players from the fashion industry. Visitors will be able to discover the wearable technology from Anina Net, robotic dresses with changing forms, at the catwalk shows. A guarantee for some stunning outfits!

Ahead of the trade fair, the second round of the competition aimed at the start-ups designing tomorrow’s fashion, the AVANTEX Fashion Pitch, will be launched as from December. Learn all about it at the WIRATE.com platform.
