Denis Steker (pictured) named member of the Koelnmesse expanded management committee effective 1 January 2020. Vice President International to advise on strategic issues relating to foreign business

GMF news - World Trade Fair Guide. Turin, January 2, 2020 – Koelnmesse has appointed Denis Steker (43) to its expanded management committee effective 1 January 2020. Steker will represent the strategic internationalisation business area on the now five-person committee, which supports the Executive Board on operational and conceptual issues.

"As an internal committee, the expanded management structure acts as a valuable sparring partner. Its expertise has now been extended even further. The internationalisation of our trade fair business is a key strategic pillar that Denis Steker has played a crucial role in building up in recent years, especially with the successful development of new events abroad", said Gerald Böse, Chief Executive Officer. The Executive Board further includes Herbert Marner (CFO), while Oliver Frese will also become a member as new Chief Operating Officer (COO) from the start of the year.

Denis Steker joined Koelnmesse as a trainee in 2002 and has held management roles since 2004, initially as project manager for various foreign trade fairs, then as Orgatec product manager. He has led the International business unit since 2012. He has since put the global sales network on an even more professional footing, opened up new markets such as South America for Koelnmesse's foreign business and considerably improved profitability and sales from foreign business overall.

Since 2012, the expanded management committee has been advising the Executive Board in key areas that are relevant to the company's success. The other members are Volker Ahrberg, Vice President Finance & Controlling, Dr Stefan Eckert, Vice President Services, Prof. Christian Glasmacher, Vice President Corporate Development, and Christoph Werner, Vice President Trade Fair Management.
